Kateřina Daly was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1972. As a girl, she studied and danced ballet. In 1989, when the Velvet Revolution started, she disobeyed her mother to take part in the demonstrations against the repressive Communist regime.
In 1994, Kateřina moved to New York, where she studied French and art history at Stony Brook University. Eventually, she would also receive a master’s degree in French Literature there. Kateřina is a French teacher at Rocky Point High School, who is fluent in Czech, English, and French. She also speaks some Slovak and Italian.
Kateřina began her yoga practice at the Family Yoga Center in 2015. Soon after that she entered the Center’s Alignment Oriented Teacher Training Program with the intention to deepen her practice and explore the ancient techniques and wisdom of the sages. As her training progressed, she realized that the skills she learned have a truly practical relevance in our everyday lives and that her duty is to share them. She received her certification in April 2017 and is a is a RYT 200 hours with Yoga Alliance.
Katerina likes traveling, kayaking, reading, and listening to a wide variety of music. She lives in a Dutch Colonial house built in 1726 with her Cairn terrier, Kelsey, whose favorite pose is the downward facing dog.
