Training at TFYC gave me an opportunity to explore yoga on a deeper level. Through lecture and practice, I explored specific teaching techniques and principles that support asana, pranayama, meditation, philosophy and anatomy. Guided by an experienced instructor, I learned to teach asana with a focus on correct alignment. By the second class I was delivering simulated lessons to a class mate. I gained a good understanding of how the body moves, studying major skeletal and muscle groups while being mindful of most common contraindications. I examined history of yoga and some of the ancient yogic texts, which, together with discussion and practice of meditation and pranayama, gave me a chance to discover yoga practice off the mat.

My instructor taught well rounded lessons, supervised hours of teaching practice with thorough feedback, reviewed, commented and constructively critiqued my every effort throughout the training. With her work, and with the work I put in, I was set up for success.

I did not enter the training program with an intention to teach but rather to deepen my practice and explore the ancient techniques and wisdom of the sages. As I progressed, I discovered that the skills I was learning had a truly practical relevance in our everyday lives and my duty might be to share them. I graduated with a solid base, confident and prepared to teach beginner classes, now on occasional teaching assignments. With every class I deliver the studies I began at TFYC continue and my awareness of the capability of the body and of the mind grows.

200 hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training Program 2017-2018

OPEN TO EXPERIENCED YOGIS WHO WISH TO TEACH YOGA, OR SIMPLY DEEPEN THEIR PRACTICE.

This intensive and comprehensive program provides in-depth information and fundamental tools for teaching yoga. It can serve as the foundation for one’s journey towards becoming a certified yoga teacher, or can support students who wish to deepen their practice and understanding of yoga. Applicants should have a minimum of one year of yoga practice.


The program is led by Jennifer Orobello, E RYT-500. Jennifer has taught yoga for over eight years and has been practicing yoga for over eleven years. She has extensive knowledge of all aspects of yoga. Jennifer is greatly inspired by Iyengar Yoga. She has studied with master teachers Christine Corsa, Theresa Rowland, Gabriel Halpern, and Allison West. She has extensive knowledge of proper alignment, breath, and appropriate prop use. Program Summary
The 200-hour Alignment Oriented Teacher Training program is designed to deepen your yoga practice and to develop teaching skills. The program consists of Yoga Techniques, Training, Practice, Teaching Methodologies, Anatomy & Physiology, Philosophy, Ethics, Lifestyle and Practicum. Upon completion of our program you will be eligible to apply to become a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) 200 hours through Yoga Alliance.

Purpose

  • To develop a strong personal practice which will be the main source of inspiration and understanding to enable one to share the art and science of yoga with students.
  • To learn the basics of; anatomy, physiology, alignment principles, yoga philosophy and ethics.
  • To practice and learn the skills of teaching such as, demonstration, verbal and manual instruction, observation, teaching to the needs of the student and finding your individual voice as a teacher.
